About Us
Our Mission
Dare to Dance opened its doors May 12th 2008, and since that time has become a trusted dance school in Canberra. We provide dance lessons for children of all ages, including toddlers, Adults with special needs, pre teens, teenagers and adults.
We formed our school on the basis of community spirit and strength of character. It is our mission to provide a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for all of our students, and to give all students the same oppurtunities.
Dare to Dance has students that simply dance for fun, along with the students that are part of the "Performance Troupe" that dance to Compete. We cater for all kinds of aspiring dancers. At D2D you are a name and not just a number. Therefore every student is as important as the next.
At Dare to Dance you will feel like you are part of a family.
Dance Attire
We are one of a few dance schools in Canberra who also offer a retail dance wear range! (Limited stock available.)
All of our dance accessories and products are discounted and available when you enrol. There is no need to go out to the hectic shop and find the appropriate attire for your child as we have most things you could need at the studio and at hand.
New Sublimated Star Uniforms:
Crop Tops, Shorts, T-shirts and Biketards are all available to buy within the studio! This range looks AMAZING!
These can be worn in Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Contemporary Classes and obviously all around town!
General uniforms:
Can be purchased through the studio. This includes Ballet Leotards, Tights, Dance Shoes (not Tap or Pointe Shoes), Studio uniforms etc.
Performance Troupe Tracksuits:
Can be purchased through Alison - special order from Canberra Dance Wear by Dee (6-8 week turn around)
Other uniforms:

Age Groups
We offer dance training from;
2 years of age to Adults, no experience is necessary.
6 months - 2 years for Music and Movement Classes
5-12 years for Dance Parties
Your first lesson is considered a trial, and it is absolutely free! This lesson is extremely important, as it is in this lesson that the student and parent, gets a feel for what the class is like.
At D2D you will be placed in an age appropriate class. So if you are a beginner there is no need to stress about being placed with the wrong group.

Canberra Local Business Awards 2021
In 2021 Alison was a finalist for the Local Business Awards for the Most Outstanding Business Person.
Dare to Dance Canberra was also a finalist for the category "Outstanding Performing Arts" and WON! Such an amazing achievement out of all Canberra Performing Arts Studios.
In 2014 Alison was a finalist for the Telstra Business Woman Awards and a finalist under 2 categories. Young Business Woman and Young Entrepreneur.
Australian Women's Small Business Champion Awards 2022
In November 2022, Dare to Dance Canberra was a finalist for the Australian Women's Small Business Champion Awards for Outstanding Performing Arts. It was noted that Alison demonstrates exceptional qualities as a leader in small business, embodying the essential values of team spirit, creativity, hard work and commitment.
We were lucky enough to WIN the award out of 29 shortlisted Dance Studios Australia Wide.
